Oceanstar at Turtle Canyon

Oceanstar's Turtle Canyon trip: free pickup at 12 Waikiki points, about three hours at the reef, kayaks and paddleboards, the turtle promise and prices.

Updated November 2026

Oceanstar is the Turtle Canyon trip that comes to you. A van collects you at one of 12 pickup points in Waikiki, a catamaran takes about 20 minutes to the reef, and you get about three hours there: the turtles first, then kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, floating sea chairs and jumps off the boat. A certified lifeguard is on board, the crew helps beginners, children and weaker swimmers with flotation gear, and if no turtles are spotted you may come back on another tour free. On GetYourGuide it is from $107 in current promotion (usually $120) a person; on Viator from $100 (checked November 2026; checked November 2026).

The 12 pickup points

You choose one when you book on GetYourGuide: The Buffet at Hyatt, Starbucks Coffee Company, 2470 Kalakaua Avenue, the Renaissance Honolulu Hotel & Spa, Biki station 315, Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach, Oceanstar’s own Waikiki stop, the Prince Waikiki, H&M, 403 Kalaimoku Street, IHOP and the Hilton Garden Inn Waikiki Beach. The van brings you back to the same set of points. If you would rather drive, the boat is at Kewalo Basin Harbor, Gate D #110, with parking at the harbor entrance.

How the morning runs

  1. Pickup at your chosen point in Waikiki.
  2. About 20 minutes by catamaran along the shore to Turtle Canyon, with Diamond Head behind.
  3. About three hours at the reef. The guided snorkel with the turtles comes first. Then the kayaks, stand-up paddleboards and sea chairs go in the water, and you can swim or jump from the boat. Light snacks and drinks are served under a wooden roof that keeps the sun off.
  4. Back by van to Waikiki, about four hours after pickup.

Guides speak English, Korean, Japanese and Spanish. A GoPro can be rented on board; tips are not included. Touching marine life is not allowed.

Who it suits, and who should pick another boat

It suits families, first-timers and anyone who does not want to deal with a harbor: the pickup, the flotation and the lifeguard take care of most worries, and the water toys keep children busy after the turtles. It is a long morning, though. If you want a short trip and only the turtles, Island Splash Tours takes 90 minutes from beside the Hilton Lagoon, and Living Ocean Tours puts a guide in the water with you for two hours.

Price
